Kristina Alexander is an environmental attorney and the Endowed Chair for Marine Policy and Law at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. Her HRI publication, Third Coast Lines, explains legal issues for non-lawyers, such as coastal desalination projects; the Rice’s whale; and challenges for the Gulf shrimp fishery. Previously she served as the Legislative Attorney in natural resources law for the Congressional Research Service, examining legal issues related to fish and wildlife, the 2010 Gulf oil spill, and marine protected area management on behalf of Members of Congress and their staff. As the Senior Research Counsel for the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, her portfolio included coastal issues affecting the Gulf of Mexico such as
