    Jit Phumisak (Thais: จิตร ภูมิศักดิ์, spreek uit chit phoe:míesàk, ook wel Chit Phumisak) studeerde af aan de Faculty of Art, Chulalongkorn Universiteit ett sloot zich al snel aan bij de Communistische Partij.     Prachathai, a web news outfit, just reported that Jit Phumisak sister, Pirom, has passed away, and perhaps, it is an end to an era.

    Jit is a famous Thai communist, often compared to Che Guvara. However, Jit’s activity, during his life time, was mostly about being the intellectual leader of Thailand‘s communist movement. However, Jit, like Che, was gunned down by the establishment.

    According to folk-lore about Jit’s last moment’s in life, he struggled out of the jungle to which he escaped to and used as a base for fighting the Bangkok’s establishment. In hunger on the verge of starvation, Jit asked villagers for some food-but was shot and killed.
