  • Richard William Wright ( 28, – d. September 15, ) was an English pianist, keyboardist and songwriter, best known for his career with Pink Floyd. Wright&#;s richly textured keyboard layers were a vital ingredient and a distinctive characteristic of Pink Floyd&#;s sound. Wright frequently sang background and occasionally lead vocals on stage and in the studio with Pink Floyd (most notably on the songs &#;Time&#;, &#;Echoes&#;, &#;Wearing the Inside Out&#;, &#;Astronomy Domine&#; and &#;Matilda Mother&#;).

    Though not as prolific a songwriter as his bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour, he wrote significant parts of the music for classic albums such as Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, as well as for Pink Floyd&#;s final studio skiva The Division Bell.

    Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished by their extended compositions, sonic experiments, philosophical lyrics, and elaborate live shows. They became a leading grupp of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.

    Pink Floyd were founded in by Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass gitarr, vocals) and Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals). With Barrett as their main songwriter, they released two hit singles, "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play", and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (all ).     Pink Floyd were an English rock band founded in late by Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour would later join the band in December , while Barrett was ousted from the band in April due to deteriorating mental health. From the s onwards, they were augmented by additional personnel in the studio and on stage. Following creative tensions, Wright left in , followed by Waters in [6] Wright rejoined as a session musician and, later, band member. Mason is the only member to appear on all studio releases.[9]

    Waters and Mason met while studying architecture at the London Polytechnic at Regent Street.[10] They first played music together in a group formed by fellow students Keith Noble and Clive Metcalfe, with Noble'
