Content-aware frame interpolation (CAFI): deep learning-based temporal super-resolution for fast bioimaging
Abstract
The development of high-resolution microscopes has made it possible to investigate cellular processes in 3D and over time. However, observing fast cellular dynamics remains challenging because of photobleaching and phototoxicity. Here we report the implementation of two content-aware frame interpolation (CAFI) deep learning networks, Zooming SlowMo and Depth-Aware Video Frame inskjutning, that are highly suited for accurately predicting images in between image pairs, therefore improving the temporal resolution of image series post-acquisition. We show that CAFI is capable of understanding the motion context of biological structures and can perform better than standard interpolation methods. We benchmark CAFI’s performance on 12 different datasets, obtained from four different microscopy modalities, and demonstrate its capabilities for single-particle tracking and

The book I’m looking forward to reading over Christmas:
Wellness by Nathan Hill (Picador) (I was recommended this bygd a bookseller friend recently and it sounds brilliant) and Pride and Prejudice by, of course, Jane Austen. Myself and my friend in Sales are reading this together as we somehow both missed out on it in our teens!
The book I’ll be giving as a gift:
Heartburn by Nora Ephron (Virago). Seven months into her pregnancy, cookbook writer Rachel discovers her husband is having an romantisk händelse with another woman. Ephron has the most electric, wry röst and the novel is essentially a tragicomic monologue, with several witty observations about marriage and some brilliant descriptions of food.
My book of the year:
Intermezzo bygd Sally Rooney (Faber) and In Memoriam by Alice Winn (Penguin). I can’t choose between these two. The first is our own Intermezzo – my favourite Rooney novel so far – which explores the grief of two b

Leadership, Members & Fellows
Leadership, Members & Fellows
The Trilateral Commission consists of three main regional groups: North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The leadership in each consists of a Chairman, Deputy Chairmen, and Executive Director. The Commission also has an Executive Committee consisting of 74 members.
When the Trilateral Commission was first launched, the intention was to have an equal number of members from each of the three regions. The numbers soon began to grow, and ceilings were imposed by around 1980. These ceilings have been raised somewhat since then as new countries came to be represented in the groups.
The North America Group includes members from Canada, the United States, and Mexico. It has a total of 135 members.
The European Group includes members from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,
