For more than 30 years, Scott Baio has been a beloved actor, successful producer, writer and director. From child actor to teen idol to adult superstar, Baio has stolen the hearts of women all around the globe.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on Sept. 22, 1960, Baio’s parents decided to send him to auditions after his cousins Joey and Jimmy Baio broke into television commercials and minor sitcom acting. Before he knew it, he was landing small parts and eventually had his big break in 1976 when he was cast as the lead in the youthful gangster film “Bugsy Malone.” Due to his early acting career, Scott never graduated from North Hollywood High School.

Scott Vincent James Baio was born on September 22, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the third child of Mario and Rose Baio, who had emigrated from Italy. At the young age of nine, Scott decided that he wanted to be an actor. Soon after, his parents took him on interviews and he was able to land in small roles in commercials. His first real taste of success occurred in 1976 when he beat out 2,000 other child actors for the starring role in the child gangster film Bugsy Malone (1976). The following year, Scott's popularity soared after he was chosen for the role of Chachi Arcola, The Fonz's cousin, on the ABC sitcom Happy Days (1974). During his heyday as a teen idol, Scott Baio received 5,000 letters per week from adoring fans. Just as the urban edge had worked for a number of rising screen stars in the 1970s (i.e., John Travolta), Baio adopted a similar stance. His thick Brooklyn accent, disco mop of hair, bronze color and tight jeans were turn-ons for young teens who tuned into "Happy Days" (ABC-CBS, 1969-1984) to watch him as Chachi Arcola. Baio gave them not just sitcom froth, though, but also a host of dramatic performances of teens in trouble. When the teen idol days petered out and the offers for feature films and dramatic roles dissipated, Baio turned to silly sitcoms such as "Charles in Charge" - which also allowed him to move behind the camera as a director - while continuing to maintain a strong following with fans.
