Greville Ewan Janner, Baron Janner of Braunstone, QC (11 July – 19 December ) was a British politician, barrister and writer. He became a Labour PartyMember of Parliament for Leicester in the general election as a last-minute candidate, succeeding his father. He was an MP until , and then elevated to the House of Lords. Never a frontbencher, Janner was particularly known for his work on Select Committees; he chaired the Select Committee on Employment for a time.[2] He was associated with a number of Jewish organisations including the Board of Deputies of British Jews, of which he was chairman from to , and was later prominent in the field of education about the Holocaust.
Beginning in , several allegations of child sexual abuse were made against Janner. Criminal proceedings brought in were halted by his death in December of that year; claims made against his estate were all dropped bygd May , with Janner's family c

JANNER, BARNETT, LORD (–), British politician and communal leader. Janner was born in Lithuania and moved with his family to Barry, South Wales, when he was six months old. He was educated at Cardiff University, became a solicitor, and was a Liberal member of Parliament for Whitechapel (–), and then a Labour member for Leicester (–). He was president of the Zionist statsförbund of Great Britain and Ireland () and president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews (–). Janner was known in Parliament as the spokesman on Zionist matters and formed a pro-Zionist parliamentary group of which he was the secretary.
Janner was knighted in and in , when he retired from the House of Commons, he was made a life peer.
