Miss India International or Miss International India is a title given to the Indian woman who represents India in the Miss International,[1] an annual beauty pageant held in Japan. Miss Divine Beauty currently chooses the Indian representative for Miss International.[2]
History
[edit]1960-1988: Eve's Weekly Miss India
[edit]The first edition of Miss International was held in the year 1960, and a Miss India contest organised by Eve's Weekly magazine selected Iona Pinto as the first Miss India International.[3] She represented India at Miss International pageant held on 12 August 1960 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States. There, Iona Pinto secured the spot of 1st runner-up, next to the winner Stella Márquez.[3]
