Most car guys are profoundly aware of the movie Bullitt because it was a defining moment in movie car chases plus it was a primetime feature at drive-ins.
Bullitt had the legendary ‘68 Mustang versus ‘68 Charger battle but it wasn’t the only 60s movie where Hollywood pounded on cars.
Here’s a list of five other movies from the 1960s drive-in circuit with some significant automotive street battles.

Bob Hope played a real estate agent who accidentally crosses wires with Elke Sommer via a phone call and the mayhem continues when she ends up at Bob’s cabin.
Spoiler alert—this puts tremendous pressure on Bob’s marriage and it ends up with a massive police följa after Bob becomes a murder suspect. I think Tom Cruise drove a 62' Belair in the movie 'A Few Good Men' filmed with Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson. Tom & Demi were defence lawyers for some accused US servicemen.
There is also an early James Bond movie that features a 63' Impala convertible driven by Mr Bond and a female companion, but I can't remember which film it is 'Live & Let Die' rings a bell but I'm not 100% sure.
And although it's not a movie, there is also a computer game made by Running With Scissors called 'Postal 2' that features several 64 Impala convertibles (BTW don't let your kids play this game).
