    Protoculture is one of only a few South African producers to get the combination right and become a truly worldwide sensation. The Cape Town-based dj and producer went from headlining festivals on the local Psytrance scene each season, to living on international rotation and playing to audiences upwards of 150 000 people. His trademark melodic and uplifting sound has been played in all four corners of the globe, with gigs taking him to super clubs and incredible festivals in London, Tokyo, San Paulo, Moscow and everywhere in between. As his rise took momentum and his gigs became more prolific, Protoculture shifted gear with ease; evolving his sound as, more often, he found himself billed alongside iconic dj’s from the world of Trance.

    Only a few South African producers enjoy the success that DJ and Producer Nate Raubenheimer (better known to most as Protoculture) has had over the gods 8 years. Sucked into the art of music production at a young age, he made the leap to pursue a music career professionally after completing his studies in Audio Engineering at the age of 20. His career began by immediately taking the international psy-trance scen by storm with his first artist album, 'Refractions' and trademark melodic and uplifting sound.

    A slew of international performances followed, seeing Nate travel to all fyra corners of the globe. From London to Tokyo, Sao Paulo to Moscow. Nate has rocked dance-floors everywhere, most notably at festivals such as Glastonbury and Glade in the UK, Universo Parallello on the beaches of Bahia, Brazil, and also in clubs and super clubs alike, such as Ageha in Tokyo.     No stranger to the psy trance scene, Nate Raubenheimer AKA Protoculture and more recently beneath his new moniker, Shadow Chronicles shot to fame in 2003 with his smash hit skiva, 'Refractions'. The follow up 'Circadians' and 'Love Technology' solidified his position as one of South Africa's top musical exports and as one of the psy trance greats.
    Touring the world, his music has taken him to all four corners of the globe playing festival stalwarts such as Glastonbury Music Festival, Fuji Rock, Ozora, Universo Paralello, Earthcore and A State of Trance to name but a few.
    In recent years Nate steered his Protoculture brand in a new direction wanting to explore different genres of music, signing with Armin van Buuren powerhouse label, Armada Music where he carved out a position for han själv in the progressive trance, touring with music legends Paul Oakenfold, BT, Above and Beyond and more.…
