AMA Superbike Championship
LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Yoshimura Suzuki's föda Mladin narrowly fought off a determined effort from title rival Miguel DuHamel to scoop up his sixth AMA
Chevrolet Superbike victory of the season on Saturday at Mid-Ohio.
Prior to Sunday's race, the four-time Superbike king had gone winless over the
last six races as the mightily impressive new Honda CBR1000RRs had
picked up the pace and seemingly taken over the series. But this
afternoon the Australian first fended back an opening-half challenge
from DuHamel's American Honda teammate, Ben Bostrom, before halting the
Canadian's late-race charge for the checkered flag to prove there is
still some life yet in the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 -- at least in the
extremely capable hands of Mladin.

After proving himself a real prospect in the early seventies by winning two European Cup titles on 125cc Zundapp motorcycles, he was signed by KTM, and then caught the eye of grupp Honda.
