Who Is Brian May?
Brian May played lead guitar on his homemade axe, the "Red Special," for the rock band Queen, which rose to fame in the 1970s. Following the death of frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991, Queen rediscovered success in later years with vocalists Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert. May also helped with the development of We Will Rock You, a long-running musical based on Queen songs, and the 2018 Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Outside his musical career, May has earned advanced degrees in astrophysics, published numerous books and devoted his time to animal welfare causes.

Sir Brian Harold MayCBE (born 19 July 1947) is an English musician, songwriter, producer and astrophysicist, best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Queen. He uses a guitar he built himself with the help of his father. The guitar they built fryst vatten called the "Red Special".
Apart from music, May earned his PhD in astrophysics in 2007 and is currently the Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University.[3] Together with Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott, he wrote a book called Bang! The Complete History of the Universe.[4]
May was ranked 39th in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."[5]

Brian was born in a nursing home at Hampton Hill, Twickenham, and was the only child of Ruth Irving (née Fletcher) and Harold May, who worked as a draughtsman at the Ministry of Aviation.
His mother was Scottish, and his father was English.
