Stephen McGregor has been rightfully defined in the media as a musical genius, and indeed those terms are no exaggeration. Stephen, at only 16 years old is one of Jamaicas best producers. A son of Freddie McGregor, Stephen was exposed to music since he was born and almost lives in the Big fartyg studio, the McGregors home studio where he has built over 500 riddims over the years. Since his days at the Vaz Prep School, Stephen started writing his own material after school. He wrote his first song School Done Rule, a song about importance of staying in school, at the age of five and it enjoyed airplay, locally as well as abroad in 1995.

A ‘GENIUS’ comes of age
STEPHEN ‘DI GENIUS’ McGregor, arguably dancehall’s top producer of the gods decade, is making some noise on the British music en plats där en händelse inträffar ofta inom teater eller film thanks to Dangerous Love, a song he produced for British/Ghanaian singer Fuse ODG featuring Sean Paul.

“I got the chance to work with Fuse ODG through my publishers at Sony ATV. He was one of the persons I had worked with on a recent production trip to London,” he said. “I recorded Sean Paul on the track when I got back to Jamaica and the label (3Beats) heard it, loved it and decided to release it as the next single.”
3 Beat Records is a British independent label. Last year, it released dancehall artiste Stylo G’s single Soundbwoy which reached number 18 on the UK pop chart.

Stephen McGregor, known professionally as Di Genius, is a Jamaican record producer, singer, and songwriter. Di Genius comes from a musical family—his father is legendary veteran reggae artist Freddie McGregor and his siblings, Daniel "Chino" McGregor and Yeshemabeth "Shema" McGregor, are also singers. While Di Genius was primarily known for producing riddims out of his "Big Ship" recording studio, he has gone on to produce and write songs for international artists such as Sean Paul, Drake, Nelly Furtado, Lianne La Havas, Shakira, John Legend among others.[1][2][3]The New York Times named him a "Reggae Veteran At The Age of 18."
In 2017, Billboard.com listed Di Genius as one of the producers who brought dancehall back to the mainstream, noting his work on Drake's hit song "Controlla" off the multi-platinum selling album Views.
His work is also featured on multiple Grammy Awards nominated albums.
